ABOUT THE NATIONAL GILBERT & SULLIVAN OPERA COMPANY

The National Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company is the UK’s leading professional opera company dedicated to performing the works of Gilbert & Sullivan.  The Company started life in 1994 as the resident, professional opera company at the annual International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton - the Festival moved to Harrogate in 2014 - and has performed each year to high acclaim and outstanding press reviews.

The phenomenal success of the Company has been built on the solid foundation of working with Britain’s most experienced and talented artists who have specialised in Gilbert & Sullivan.  People like Richard Suart, Simon Butteriss, Richard Gauntlett, Jill Pert, Bruce Graham, Charlotte Page and Oliver White.

They were supported by similarly experienced directors and conductors including Alan Spencer, John Reed OBE, Anthony Besch, John Owen Edwards and David Steadman.
